A case study in regenerative tourism?

When we started mountain biking at Skyline I didn't realise the wider benefits that would occur later on.

Probably the biggest impact came from the work we did with the Queenstown Mountain Bike Club.

To show our support and encourage more people to join the club, Skyline offered a $50 discount on a season pass. At the time that was the same price as the annual club membership.

This meant that (almost) everyone who purchased a Skyline season pass also purchased a club membership which lead to a big jump in club members.

With the added membership and revenue, the club built more trails which in turn helped to establish Queenstown as a thriving mountain biking destination.

The result? A boost in business for Skyline by bringing more mountain bikers to the gondola and a thriving mountain bike community.
