“This would’ve taken us a year to do on our own!”

This was the feedback from The Dunedin Craft Beer and Food Festival after completing their new strategic plan.

The DCBFF team has been overwhelmingly successful in selling out this event every year...

However, not wanting to assume future success, they wanted to get all their ideas into one place about where they were going to go next.

They wanted to be intentional about their future direction and get clear on what that success looks like.

Together, we followed a process, cut the fluff and honed in on priorities for:

- A 5-year vision (what direction they’re going in)

- Purpose of the event (more than just commercial success - they provide an amazing experience, attract visitors to Dunedin as a destination , donate tens of thousands to their community each year and provide a platform for vendors to grow their own businesses)

- How they can integrate their wider organisational values into the event (and use them to guide real team behaviours and actions)

- Aligning with their destination management plan (and engagement with their RTO)

- 3-year picture (actions to work towards the festival in 2026)

- Measures of success (stuff they can track monthly and yearly to ensure they’re making progress)

They now have this all on 1 page - something that gets them excited, keeps them accountable and which they can share with their team.
