Small Giants Tourism Insights

I just finished reading the book "Small Giants" - it's like they wrote it about Fergburger.

The book is about businesses that could've been really big but instead choose to stay small and focus on being really good.

And that's how they become successful.

The book covers how staying small with a focus on quality leads to:
- A loyal following
- Recurring customers/visitors
- Great reviews
- Business results

With a daily line out the door, common sense asks "why haven't Fergburger franchised?!"

It's funny how we get exposed to these 'growth at all costs' models (the ones that are often on the news or featured in Forbes etc).

But staying small allows them to maintain control over the customer experience and uphold their reputation.

They create a memorable, local brand and a unique experience.

That's what keeps them special.

But businesses can define success on their own terms.

With the right business model, many tourism businesses can thrive by staying small.

There's a lot of good examples in the book - would highly recomend it to anyone who wants to be good instead of big.
